About the event

Providing care for your loved one in chronic pain can be mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually draining. Often times, caregivers are referred to as "the secondary patient." As chronic pain sufferers, we are completely unprepared for how our bodies, minds, emotions, responsibilities, careers, finances, and identified roles change seemingly overnight. Similarly, a chronic pain sufferer's family is unprepared for the destructive upheaval. Unfortunately, by the time the immense stress of care-giving begins to show, the care-giver is already at great risk for "serious adverse physical and mental health consequences from their physically and emotionally demanding work as caregivers and reduced attention to their own health and health care."

In fact, NIH published a study outlining the potential health hazards of care-giving. "Caregiver burden and strain have been related to the caregiver’s own poor health status, increased health-risk behaviors (such as smoking), and higher use of prescription drugs. Researchers have reported…

Christina H Chororos

Christina H Chororos is a mental health and pain management coach. A fourteen-year deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) sufferer, Christina founded Kairos Coaching in the fall of 2018.

 

Today, Christina specializes in teaching lifelong mental and emotional coping strategies to children, teens, and young adults. Christina also works with the chronic pain and illness community as an educator and advocate. Additionally, Christina is an iPain Living Magazine columnist and a TAPinto.net regular contributor. 

 

Christina graduated with honors from Lynchburg University with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Education in 2002. Furthermore, she obtained an Integrative Wellness Life Coaching Certification from the Integrative Wellness Academy in the fall of 2017 and a Graduate Certificate in Pain Management from the University of Connecticut (UCONN) in the spring of 2020. 

 

Currently, Christina is earning her Master of Social Work (MSW) at Rutgers University.
