If you're here, you have probably started or are concluding research on mental health and/or pain management coaching.

You may be questioning how it's possible that a coach can "specialize" in such a gamut of illnesses?

Are coaches trained in the specifics of every disease or illness?

Though I can only speak for KCPC, here is the honest answer to that question:

Much like physicians (though we are NOT physicians), coaches choose a specialty, a niche, in which we are educated. Kairos Chronic Pain Coaching specializes in teaching the mental, emotional, and physical coping skills needed to manage mental and physical anguish.

As chronic illness sufferers or mental health sufferers, our stories are different and unique in many ways. However, many of our stories begin to unfold with similar plot twists. Anxiety, depression, fear-avoidance, isolation, grief, employment difficulties, and miscommunications are just a few ways in which they intertwine.

In other words, just because I suffer from deep infiltrating endometriosis and you may suffer from spinal stenosis,  pain is pain. Similarly, anxiety, depression, and grief require the same coping strategies...regardless of where it stems from.
